Creating a New Tour

Step 1: Enter your workgroup

Go to your guild home page (this is the screen that appears after you log in; you can return to it by clicking "Salmon Guild" or "Trout Guild" in the navigation bar), and click your workgroup name (in the lower right corner).

Step 2: Share backpack items

Before you can use a backpack item in a tour, you must share it with your workgroup. To share an item, go to your backpack, view the item, and at the bottom of the screen, where it says "Share this item with these workgroups", click the Edit List button.

Then click the checkbox next to your workgroup.

Step 3: Start a new tour

Click "Tours" in the navigation bar. This will bring up a list of tours that are being worked on in your workgroup, if any. Click "New tour."

Enter a title, abstract, and information about the authors (you can come back and edit this later, but be sure to enter a title). Click "save", and you will see the tour title page.

Step 4: Add a page

From the tour title page, click "add page".

Fill in a title and text for the page, and choose a layout, then click "save".

You will see a page with your text, a box where your the resource (shared backpack item) will go, and a table of contents on the left. The star tells you what page you are looking at.

Step 5: Select a resource

Click the magnifying glass icon under the resource box. You will see a list of all items that have been shared by anyone in your workgroup. Select the item you wish to put in the page. "Embed resource" will display the resource inside the page. "Link to resource" will create a link from the page to that resource.

Step 6: Add more pages

Click the tour title in the table of contents to return to the title page. From there, repeat steps 4 and 5.

Note: Each time a backpack item is shared, or a new page is created, a discussion post is created. Discussion posts can be viewed by clicking "Posts" in the menu bar. (Click a date on the calendar to see activity for that day.) In this way, you can check for newly shared resources or tour building activity by others in your workgroup.
